You just spent alot of money on a pro body. Don't let it go to waste by shooting in auto all the time. Learn all you can about how it works! Good composition and creative depth of field are the keys.

I don't shoot in auto silly!!! I shoot in aperture or manual.....D700 doesn't even have auto!
