Dan always asks me "why didn't you post that photo of me and Lilly together?" So tonight I thought I'd actually post some!
We actually need to take some family portraits, but I'd like to wait until things start to get a little warmer. Plus I'm hoping we'll be able to take some on our vacation to Maine. I'm so looking forward to our time together. I've been going back and forth on whether or not to get one of those things that they have for kids that look like a back pack with basically a leash coming out of the back. I'm just really worried about her falling off a cliff or something! We'll probably carry her in the backpack thing most of the time, but I do want her to be able to run around and what not and actually enjoy herself. One moment I'm about to buy it and the next moment I change my mind. I don't know what to do! Anyways, wish me luck tomorrow. I have to call the NY department of taxes tomorrow and I'm hoping they won't be rude.......I hate rude people! Here's another photo of Lilly on the tracks.....I used a texture on this one to give it a vintage feel!

LOVE the pics!
And after reading about your quandry about the "leash"...I have to tell you that I recommend it. Especially if you'll be in crowded places like airports, malls, or tourist attractions. And near the coast would be good too. We've had one for our little guy (he'll be 2 soon) since he started walking, and he does really well with it and I don't worry near as much as I would without it....he gets some freedom, we get peace of mind...its a good thing!
(ours doesn't have the backpack part...its just a harness/leash looking thing).
(And we've gotten several "wow, that's fantastic" and "I commend you for leashing him, rather than just yelling at him" comments when he's had it on).
I don't want my niece falling off a cliff...please get the Backpack. And if it makes you feel better we'll call it a "Lilly Catcher" instead of a leash!
Betsy
Carter was on a leash from about 10 months (when he started walking) until about 3 1/2 - he just had NO fear of running out in traffic, no idea that he was supposed to be keeping an eye on us, not wandering off, etc - Seriously, it saved his life more than once!
A word of advice IF you decide to go with it? Practice at home - so that there are fewer meltdowns when it's actually needed! (after a week or so, my son completely forgot that he was wearing something that tethered us together )
Also? Have a great time in Maine!
We used the monkey backpack/leash thing for my son when we went on vacation a couple of years ago. My husband didn't really like the idea, but my son was never a stroller kid, he always had to be up and walking or running around. I knew we needed one for the airport because we had a lot of stuff and it is just so crowded! Anyway, we used it and it was great. I felt so much better with it and he was happy with the freedom of being able to walk around more. Yes we got some stares and whispers, but I ignored them, cause those people didn't know us, or my child and he wasn't bothering them so why should they care. But most people were nice, we got lots of smiles and, "oh that's a great idea." You've just got to do what's best for you and your family, whether that's getting one or not. Maybe you could buy one, try it out at home and see what you think. If it's not for you, return it.
Good luck!
Oh, and by the end of the day, my husband was really happy I had bought it!
